When imaging this galaxy from Capella Observatory, a lot of geostationary satellites cross the field of view (NGC 520 has a declination of +3°47'). In one of the 5 minute exposures not less than five satelites left their marks (a lot for a field of view of only ~10'x7'). It is belived that NGC 520 is/are in fact two galaxies in collision or in a merger encounter like NGC 4038/39 and NGC 3256. Image processed with CCDSharp and DDP. |

Wird diese Galaxie vom Capella-Observatorim aus belichtet, so kreuzen eine Menge geostationärer Satelliten das Gesichtsfeld (NGC 520 hat eine Deklination von +3°47'). In einer der 5 Minuten Belichtungen hinterließen nicht weniger als fünf Satelliten ihre Spuren (eine Menge für ein Gesichtsfeld von ~10'x7'). Man nimmt an, dass es sich bei NGC 520 um zwei Galaxien handelt, die z.Zt. kollidieren bzw. fusionieren, wie das z.B. in NGC 4038/39 und NGC 3256 der Fall ist. Das Bild wurde mit Hilfe von CCDSharp und DDP bearbeitet. |
