Image shot in Namibia. Astro-Physics 105mm-Refractor Traveler f=600mm. Exposure time 75 min. on Kodak Ektacolor Pro Gold 400 (medium format). North is up.

The central gas nebula (just below the image center) is IC 2944. Some very small detailes of this nebula, the so called Thackeray globules can be found here. The open cluster above IC 2944 is NGC 3766, the clusters on the right edge are IC 2714 and Melotte 105. The nebulae right to the image center are (from top to bottom) Gum 39, IC 2872 and Gum 41.

Der zentrale Gasnebel IC 2944 befindet sich knapp unterhalb der Bildmitte. Einige sehr kleine Details dieses Nebels, die sogenannten Thackeray Globulen, sind hier zu finden. Außer IC 2944 fallen noch die offenen Sternhaufen NGC 3766 (oberhalb des Nebels) und IC 2714 sowie Melotte 105 am rechten Bildrand auf. Die Nebel im rechten Bildteil sind (von oben nach unten) Gum 39, IC 2872 und Gum 41.
