About this Image / Über dieses Bild

CCD: WebCam Philips ToU Cam pro
Image Type, Orientation: For the moons: Composite of three video sequences taken every 10 minutes. The inset of Mars is the same as the last picture of the Mars sequence.  North is down.
Exposure time: For the moons: 500 video frames stacked every 10 minutes, averaged with GIOTTO . For the inset: see here!
Exposure date: For the moons: August, 31st 2003, 19.20-19.43UT. For the inset: see here!
Location: Capella Observatory at Amani Lodge, Kupferberg near Windhoek, Namibia
Filter: wide band red filter
Instrument: Ganymed 60cm-Hypergraph in secondary focus, f=4800 mm
Seeing (FWHM): about 2"
Photographer: Stefan Binnewies, Dietmar Böcker

Remarks: With a 24" telescope even a WebCam can be used to get the moons of Mars! The white ring around the Mars inset is an overexposure effect when imaging the moons.

Bemerkungen: Mit einem 60cm-Teleskop reicht sogar eine WebCam, um die Marsmonde abzubilden! Der weiße Ring um das Inset ist auf Überbelichtungseffekte bei den Mondaufnahmen zurückzuführen.
