| Remarks: | NGC 253 and the globular cluster NGC 288 form a beautiful pair in the constellation Sculptor. NGC 253, also known as Sculptor or Siber Dollar galaxy, has already been photographed with the 24 " Ganymede telescope in primary focus. The image can be found here. A widefield image is not only interesting because the globular cluster is so beautifully symmetrical to the galaxy, there are also exciting objects in the background. Numerous background galaxies can be seen, as well as galaxy clusters that reveal themselves through their red coloration. The dwarf galaxy NaGC253 DW2, which is located slightly north-east of the Silver Dollar, is also particularly interesting. This dwarf can be clearly recognized in the inverted image. |

NGC 253 und der Kugelsternhaufen NGC 288 bilden ein schönes Paar im Sternbild Sculptor. NGC 253 auch als Sculptor oder Siberdollar Galaxie bekannt, haben wir bereits mit dem 24 " Ganymed Teleskop im Primärfokus aufgenommen. Die Aufnahme ist hier zu finden. Eine Widefield Aufnahme ist nicht nur deshalb interessant, weil der Kugelsternhaufen so schön symmetrisch zur Galaxie steht, auch befinden sich im Hintergrund spannende Objekte. zahlreiche Hintergrundgalaxien sind zu erkennen, sowie Galaxienhaufen, die sich durch ihre rote Färbung verraten. Besonders interessant ist aber auch die Zwerggalaxie NGC 253 DW2, die sich etwas nordöstlich des Silberdollars befindet. In der invertierten Darstellung (siehe hier) ist dieser Zwerg eindeutig zu erkennen. |
