The comet C/2025 R2 (SWAN) was
discovered only on September 11, 2025, just one day before its perihelion on
September 12. The discovery was made by amateur astronomer Vladimir Bezugly
in data from the SWAN instrument, part of the SOHO spacecraft. The Capella
image was obtained less than a week after the discovery. At that time, the
comet’s apparent brightness was about magnitude 6.9. |

Der Komet C/2025 R2 (SWAN) wurde erst am 11.9.2025 kurz
vor seinem Perihel am 12.9. entdeckt, und zwar vom Amateurastronomen
Vladimir Bezugly in Daten des SWAN-Instruments (Teil von SOHO). Das
Capella-Bild wurde weniger als eine Woche nach der Entdeckung aufgenommen!
Die Helligkeit betrug zu diesem Zeitpunkt etwa 6.9 mag. |
