Remarks:

NGC 5971, the galaxy on the right image border, displays an umbrella shaped material tail (tidal plume), which is even more noticeable on the inverted version below. Dr. David Martinez-Delgado (MPIA, Heidelberg) now attends to this subject. NGC 5965, the edge on galaxy at the left image border possibly also displays an tidal plume: the fine string like structure above the central area.

Bemerkungen:

NGC 5971, die Galaxie ganz am rechten Bildrand, zeigt einen sich schirmförmig ausbreitenden Materie-Schweif (“Tidal plume“ – besonders deutlich in der invertierten Darstellung unten zu erkennen). Die weitere Untersuchung dieser bisher unbekannten Struktur erfolgt in Zusammenarbeit mit Dr. David Martinez-Delgado (MPIA, Heidelberg). Und auch NGC 5965, die Egde-on Galaxie links im Bild weist möglicherweise einen Materie-Schweif auf, die feine fadenförmige Struktur rechts oberhalb des Kerngebiets.
