Remarks: |
The amount of foreground stars is very unusual for this barred spiral. NGC 5643 is a galaxy visible near the milky way, which is not so frequent. Normally galactic dust makes it impossible to look through. As a result the chance to see a galaxy in the same direction as the milky way is low. NGC 5643 has a galactic latitude of only 15°. |

Ungewöhnlich für diese Balkengalaxie sind die vielen Vordergrundsterne. NGC 5643 ist eine der weniger häufigen Galaxien, die nahe der Milchstraße zu sehen sind. Normalerweise verhindert der galaktische Staub ein "Durchgucken", so dass Galaxien in Blickrichtung der Milchstraße selten zu finden sind. NGC 5643 hat eine galaktische Breite von lediglich 15°. |
