The image shows a slightly rotated crop of
the overall
image (there: north at 12:15). Almost exactly 15 years to the day after
the first picture
taken on Skinakas remotely, this is the "second first light" there after
moving back from Eifel/Germany. The exposure took a few nights because the
telescope was covered in plastic from time to time due to painting work
still to be carried out. NGC 5371 (on the left) together with the Hickson 68 group on the right (NGC 5350 and the interacting group of galaxies around NGC 5353) forms the so-called "Big Lick" group of galaxies. |

Das Bild zeigt einen leicht
gedrehten Ausschnitt des
Gesamtbildes
(dort: Norden bei 12:15). Fast auf den Tag genau 15 Jahre nach dem
ersten auf Skinakas
remote gemachten Bild ist dies das "zweite first light" dort nach dem
Umzug zurück aus der Eifel. Die Belichtung zog sich über einige Nächte hin,
da das Teleskop wegen noch auszuführender Malerarbeiten zwischendurch immer
mal wieder in Plastik verhüllt war. |
