From left to right NGC 3312, NGC 3311 and NGC 3309 can be seen. NGC 3309/11 are the central members of the Hydra I galaxie cluster (Abell 1060). This two more or less round galaxies are giant ellipticals and share a common envelope. Because of this the distances for these two galaxies, mentioned below the image (taken from the PGC) may be not correct. The spiral NGC 3312 stands in fine contrast to the nearly untextured ellipticals. BTW: The "black nose" in NGC 3311 is NOT an artifact!

| Bemerkungen: |
Von links nach rechts sind NGC 3312, NGC 3311 und NGC 3309 zu sehen. NGC 3309/11 sind die zentralen Mitglieder des Hydra I Galaxien-Clusters (Abel 1060). Diese beiden mehr oder weniger runden Galaxien sind riesige elliptische Galaxien, die ein gemeinsames Halo besitzen. Insofern sind die Abstandsangaben für diese beiden Galaxien unter dem Bild, die dem PGC entnommen wurden, wohl nicht ganz korrekt. Die Spiralgalaxie NGC 3312 steht in auffallendem Kontrast zu den nahezu strukturlosen beiden anderen. Übrigens: die "schwarze Nase" im Zentrum von NGC 3311 ist KEIN Artefakt!
