Remarks:

The spiral structure in NGC 2997 is of the grand design type, the same as in M 91, but with much more brightness. The inner disk is covered with two dust lanes, silhouetted against the central part of the galaxy, which shows a high surface brightness. Many HII-regions exist in the two luminous arms.

Bemerkungen:

Die Spiralarme in NGC 2997 sind vom Grand Design Typ, wie bei M 91, aber mit höherer
Oberflächenhelligkeit. Zentral beginnen zwei Staubbänder, die sich gut vom hellen Kerngebiet abheben.
Viele rote HII-Regionen liegen in den hellsten Partien der beiden Galaxienarme.
Das Bild wurde mit Hilfe von CCDSharp bearbeitet.
