NGC 1097 (=Arp 77) is a face-on galaxy of SBb-type which is twice as bright as our home galaxy. The small elliptical compagnion to the left ( NGC 1097A ) lies in the foreground in a distance of only 15 Mparsec. Image processed with DDP, no sharpening. |

face-on Galaxie vom Typ SBb und hat die doppelte Leuchtkraft unserer
Heimatgalaxie. Der kleine elliptische Begleiter ( NGC 1097A) links ist eine
Vordergrundgalaxie in ca. 15 Mparsec Entfernung. |
