Arp 299 is the
catalog designation for possibly one of the most beautiful pairs of
colliding galaxies. One can observe the extreme dynamics caused by the
significant gravitational effects during such a collision. Two clearly
visible tidal tails are also signs of this intense interaction. |

Katalogbezeichnung für möglicherweise eines der schönsten Paare
kollidierender Galaxien. Man erkennt die extreme Dynamik, die durch die
starken Gravitationseffekte bei einer solchen Kollision verursacht wird.
Zwei deutlich sichtbare Gezeitenschweife sind ebenfalls Anzeichen für diese
intensive Wechselwirkung. |
