Remarks:

NGC 6052 is a galaxy located in the constellation Hercules. More precisely, it is a pair of two galaxies, NGC 6052A and NGC 6052B, which are in a late stage of merging. The morphology of the original galaxies cannot be clearly identified. Due to its peculiar shape, NGC 6052 is also listed as Arp 209 in Halton Arp’s Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies.
Because of its distance of about 400 million light-years, the object appears very small, spanning less than one arcminute, and poses a challenge to observation due to the limitations imposed by atmospheric seeing.

Bemerkungen:

NGC 6052 ist eine Galaxie im Sternbild Herkules. Genauer gesagt handelt es sich um ein Paar von zwei Galaxien, NGC 6052A und NGC 6052B, die sich in einem späten Zustand der Verschmelzung befinden. Die Morphologie der zwei ursprünglichen Galaxien kann nicht eindeutig zugeordnet werden. Aufgrund der eigenartigen Form taucht NGC 6052 auch als Arp 209 im Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies von Halton Arp auf.
Wegen ihrer Entfernung von etwa 400 Mio. Lichtjahren erscheint das Objekt mit unter einer Bogenminute Ausdehnung sehr klein und ist eine Herausforderung aufgrund der Begrenzung durch das Seeing.
