Remarks:

The reflection nebula vdB124 is located in the middle of the dense dark clouds of the constellation Scutum. In the immediate vicinity is the open star cluster NGC6649, which is clearly colored by extinction.
The blue nebula reminded us of the veils around the star Merope; it almost seems as if a Pleiades star has been lost here. Of course, this is not the case. Merope has spectral class B6IV, whereas HD170740 is a B2V star. The differences in color are minimal.

Der Reflexionsnebel vdB124 befindet sich in Mitten der dichten Dunkelwolken des Sternbildes Schild (Scutum). In direkter Nachbarschaft steht der Offene Sternhaufen NGC6649, der deutlich gefärbt ist durch Extinktion.
Uns hat der blaue Nebel an die Schleier um den Stern Merope erinnert, es scheint fast so als sei hier ein Plejadenstern verloren gegangen. Das ist natürlich nicht der Fall. Merope hat die Spektralklasse B6IV hingegen HD170740 ist ein B2V Stern. Die Unterschiede in der Farbe sind minimal.
