In the dense dark clouds of the Aquila Rift is the HII
region Westerhout 40 a.k.a Sh2-64. W40 is located in the middle of dense
dark nebulae and only a part of the star forming region is visible. We have
already taken an image of this nebula with the 24” Ganymede telescope, which
can be found here. There is also an
animation with an image from the Spitzer Space Telescope which shows the
full extent of the nebula. There are countless dark nebulae in the vicinity
of W40. Particularly fascinating are the very delicate, smoke-like
reflection nebulae that seem to hover over the entire region. BlurXTerminator was used for the image (option "correct only") |

In den dichten Dunkelwolken des
Aquila Riffs befindet sich die HII-Region Westerhout 40 a.k.a Sh2-64. W40
befindet sich inmitten dichter Dunkelnebel und nur ein Teil der
Sternentstehungsregion ist zu sehen. Wir haben mit dem 24“ Ganymed Teleskop
bereits eine Aufnahme dieses Nebel gemacht, die
hier zu finden ist. Dort gibt es auch
eine Animation mit einer Aufnahme des Spitzer Weltraumteleskops, die das
ganze Ausmaß des Nebels zeigt. In der Umgebung von W40 sind unzählige
Dunkelnebel zu finden. Besonders faszinierend sind die sehr zarten,
rauchartigen Reflexionsnebel, die über der ganzen Region zu schweben
scheinen. |
