LBN 437, also known as the Gecko Nebula, is a
star-forming region in the constellation Lacerta. The catalog number LBN 437
refers to the central dark nebula. This lies in the middle of the much
larger HII region Sharpless 126. The dark nebula shows a reddish hydrogen
glow at the edges. The tip of the nebula points exactly in the direction of
the ionization source, the star 10 Lacertae, which is outside the
image field. Another striking object is the Herbig Ae/Be star LkHa 233,
which forms a small reflection nebula in the center of LBN 437. Also visible
in the image are some Herbig Haro objects, which appear as small red spots

LBN 437, auch bekannt als
Gecko-Nebel, ist eine Sternentstehungsregion im Sternbild Lacerta. Die
Katalog Bezeichnung LBN 437 bezieht sich auf den zentralen Dunkelnebel.
Dieser liegt in Mitten der weit größeren HII-Region Sharpless 126. Auffällig
ist, dass der Dunkelnebel an den Rändern ein rötliches Wasserstoff- Leuchten
zeigt. Die Nebelspitze zeigt exakt in die Richtung der Ionisationsquelle,
dem Stern 10 Lacertae, der sich deutlich außerhalb des Bildfeldes befindet.
Ein weiteres, auffälliges Objekt ist der Herbig Ae/Be Sterne LkHa 233, der
einen kleinen Reflexionsnebel im Zentrum von LBN 437 bildet. Außerdem im
Bild sichtbar einige Herbig Haro Objekte, die sich als kleine rote Fleckchen
am rechten unteren Rand des Dunkelnebels zeigen. |
