Remarks: |
The image of the Eta Carinae Nebula is the first light of
the remote observatory "Capella Observatory South", which was newly built in
May 2023 on the Kiripotib Astrofarm in Namibia. A few months earlier we
started with the preparation: An existing Losmandy G11 mount was converted
using high-resolution encoder (control using modified OnStepX), the
electronics/software for controlling the roof, sockets, flat field/dust
protection cap, etc. was created at home (ASCOM Alpaca)). A few days of work on site (among other things, the fine adjustment of the optics – 61.2 megapixels with 3.76 x 3.76 um pixel size want to be imaged sharply first) enabled us to start the first long exposure. After the first successful night, we decided to turn the camera by almost 90° so that north is as exactly “up” in the picture. For this reason, however, the recordings of the two nights were rotated in relation to each other, so that only the middle, almost square part was covered in the total image. This is the reason for the unusual aspect ratio of the image above. BlurrXTerminator was used for the image (option "correct only") |

Bemerkungen: |
