Remarks:

Astronomy can be dangerous! When Dietmar took this image end of 2003, he broke his shoulder - not while taking the image but while feeding the cheetahs next afternoon. No, the reason was not the cheetahs but the car which he tried to push ...

Now some words about the picture: The star in the center of the bubble is a so called Wolf-Rayet-star, a very hot star. It's solar wind is responsible for forming the bubble by "blowing away" the gas around the star. CCDSharp was used for this image.

Bemerkungen:

Astronomie kann gefährlich sein! Als Dietmar dieses Bild Ende 2003 machte, brach er sich  die Schulter - nicht bei der Aufnahme selbst, sondern beim Füttern der Geparden am folgenden Nachmittag. Nein, der Grund waren nicht die Geparden, sondern das Auto, das er versuchte, anzuschieben...

Nun zum Bild: Der Stern in der Mitte der Blase ist ein sogenannter Wolf-Rayet-Stern, ein sehr heißer Stern. Sein Sonnenwind bildet die Blase, indem er das Gas um den Stern herum "wegbläßt".
