Remarks:

LDN 863 is the central dark nebula in this image. A little to the west of it is the much larger LDN 862, which is still partially visible in the lower right part of our image. The compressed appearing H-II region slightly above LDN 863 is cataloged as DWB 5. The brighter star is 28 Cyg, a blue B-type star. This region of the sky is located slightly north of the more frequently photographed WR 134 and can often be seen in widefield images. Detailed images of this exciting region of the sky are rare.

Bemerkungen:

LDN 863 ist der zentrale Dunkelnebel in diesem Bild. Etwas westlich davon liegt der wesentlich größere LDN 862, der teilweise in unserer Aufnahme im rechten, unteren Bildteil noch zu sehen ist. Die komprimiert erscheinende H-II Region etwas oberhalb von LDN 863 ist als DWB 5 katalogisiert. Der heller leuchtende Stern ist 28 Cyg, ein blauer B-Typ Stern. Diese Himmelsregion befindet sich etwas nördlich des häufiger fotografierten WR 134 und ist häufig auf Übersichtsaufnahmen zu sehen. Nur selten findet man Detailaufnahmen dieser spannenden Himmelsregion.
