In contrast to the three dark nebulae LDN 1358 (the upper dark lump), LDN 1355 (the bow) and LDN 1357 (the lower lump), vdB 9 and LBN 643 (bottom right in the image) are reflection nebulae, mainly caused by the light from SU Cas, the brightest Star in image (a pulsating variable star whose apparent magnitude varies between mag 5.7 and mag 6.2 with a period of just under two days). |

Im Gegensatz zu den drei Dunkelnebeln LDN 1358 (der obere dunkele Knoten), LDN 1355 (der Bogen) und LDN 1357 (der untere Knoten) handelt es sich bei vdB 9 und LBN 643 (unten rechts im Bild) um Reflexionsnebel, im Wesentlichen hervorgerufen durch das Licht von SU Cas, dem hellsten Stern im Bild (ein pulsierender veränderlicher Stern, dessen scheinbare Helligkeit mit einer Periode von knapp zwei Tagen zwischen 5,7 und 6,2 mag schwankt). |
