LDN1251 is a relatively large dark nebula in the constellation of Cepheus, not far from the Shark Nebula and the more famous Iris Nebula. Its shape is reminiscent of a plaice or a flounder. Numerous signs of star formation can be seen in the dark nebula in the form of small reflection nebulae or Herbig Haro objects. In addition, three larger and numerous smaller galaxies are in the same line of sight as LDN1251. The three clearly discernible larger galaxies are UGC 12160 at the eastern edge of the nebula, LEDA 166755 above the tail, and WISEA J222834.94+750407.2 below the tail.

LDN1251 ist ein relative großer Dunkelnebel im Sternbild Cepheus, unweit des Shark Nebels und des noch bekannteren Iris Nebels. Seine Form erinnert an eine Scholle oder eine Flunder. In dem Dunkelnebel sieht man zahlreiche Anzeichen von Sternentstehung in Form von kleinen Reflexionsnebeln oder Herbig Haro Objekten. Außerdem liegen drei größere und zahlreiche kleinere Galaxien in der gleichen Sichtlinie wie LDN1251. Die drei deutlich erkennbaren größeren Galaxien sind UGC 12160 am östlichen Rand des Nebels, LEDA 166755 oberhalb der Schwanzflosse und WISEA J222834.94+750407.2 unterhalb der Schwanzflosse.
